Museum Library Scene

Another project that I have completed involved me creating a 3D image that will be used as the background in an upcoming game, with the working title of 'The Forbidden'.

The image was created, allowing spaces for things to be placed on desks etc, in the game editor. Once I have further details about the game I will share them with you. In the meantime have a look at my previous image that was created for this game which is a Basement Lab Scene

Medinah Golf Course

My Recent and biggest golf project to date was to recreate Medinah Golf Course, this project had to be done to a tight schedule as it is being used for the 2012 Ryder Cup golf tournament, which starts this week.

The project involved me creating all the buildings and objects that can be seen all around the course.

Everything had to be textured in a very specific style, as requested by the client, and all the textures were created with Normal and Specular maps.

Further Images can be seen on my facebook page, www.facebook.com/markshires3d or by visiting my website www.markshires.com.

I am available to do 3D work on a wide range of subjects, so if you would like to discuss any projects with me then please do not hesitate to get in touch with me. Full contact details can be found on my website.

Warrior Tank Model

Another completed project involved me creating the centre piece for a high profile Armoured Vehicle Training Simulator. My task was to create an accurate representation of the Warrior Tank, from supplied data and photographs.

The model had to have articulated parts, such as rotating wheels, the rotating turret, the gun barrel needed to raise and lower, as well as the drivers hatch had to open and close.

To accomplish this I used the Flight Studio plugin in 3DS max which allowed me to create the required degrees of Freedom (DOF's) and different levels of detail (LOD's) required, so that it could be exported into the customers required format of OpenFlight (.flt)

The model itself is made from just under 6,000 triangles at its highest LOD. It is fully unwrapped and has 4 textures. The model shown here also has a normal and specular map applied to it.

The model itself was created for XPI Simulation Ltd, who had been awarded the contract to provide a research simulator for amoured vehicle driver training by the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl), who are part of the Ministry of Defence (MoD). Further details can be found here; XPI Simulation.
For enquiries regarding any 3D projects, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me markshires@gmail.com and we can discus your requirements further.

Whitford Golf Course

This is my second golf course that I have completed, for a golf simulation project.

The project involved me modelling and texturing all the buildings and objects around the course in 3D.

The textures had to be done in a specific style set by the client and involved creating Normal and specular maps.

I am currently working on a number of other golf courses including Medinah which hosts the Ryder Cup this year, so keep an eye on my blog and facebook page for updates very soon.

If you have any type of 3D work that you need to be completed, then please do not hesitate to get in touch and we can discuss your requirements.

Quicksilver Golf Course

I have just completed a project that involved creating the assets for the Quicksilver Golf course for use in a Golf Simulation/Game. Here are some 'in game' screen shots showing the course in all its glory.

All the building models that I created has to be textured in a certain style, all the textures had to be very clean looking, and had to include normal and specular maps for each object.

The terrain for the golf course was generated from LIDAR data.

VRX iMotion Simulator - 3D Visualisation

I have just completed a project which involved modelling and rendering a room full of VRX iMotion Simulators.
To find out more about the simulator, please visit www.triplewidescreen.co.uk, where you can also get hold of one!
Driving one should look a little like this, but imagine this with full motion and surround sound.

Anyway I produced several imaged that are to be used as concept visuals to give you a feel of how a simulator room will look with 10 of these simulators all set up.

As you would all agree this would be amazing! Once again to see more of my work visit my website www.markshires.com and don't forget to check out www.triplewidescreen.co.uk the home of the VRX iMotion Sim.

Infinity Curl Range of Tables

I have recently completed a project which set me the task of visualising a new range of tables from a given design. The tables have been completed for the designer Constanze Schweda of KiriDesign.

The range consists of 4 Tables, each one inspired by the Japanese art of Kirigami, whereby a sheet of paper is cut and folded into a three-dimensional form. Each of the tables are designed in a way to be cut from a single sheet of steel. For further details regarding the range of tables visit www.KiriDesign.com

For further details and to see more of Constanze's work please visit her website at www.constanzeschweda.com

American Civil War Exhibition Visualisation

A recently completed project of mine was to create a visualisation of an Exhibition stand, based on the American Civil War. The design was originally created by Abrams Associates Design found at www.aaexhibits.com

All the models were created using 3DS Max and rendered using Vray.

I am now looking into the possibility of creating a real-time scene, enabling the user to explore the scene and preview the exhibition. So keep an eye out for that in the not too distant future.

3D Pixel Movie Characters

Over the last couple of weeks I have been looking into a few things using 3DS Max, I found a plugin that allows you to take an image and transform it into 3D pixels.

Here are some of the results that I have achieved when rendering the characters using Mental Ray. They are all famous Movie Characters from some iconic films, can you guess who they all are?

On a side not I take no credit for the original designs of these pixel characters, the original designs are from this site here http://drawn.ca/archive/pixeljoint/

Toronto Motorsport Park (Cayuga) - Closer Look at some of the Objects

Yesterday I posted about my recently completed Race Track, Toronto Motorsport Park.

I have decided to showcase some of the assets that I have created whilst working on the track, so that you can look at them in more detail.

One of the main objects that I have created was the Grand Stands/Bleachers.

I believe this building to be the race control building but  I could be wrong.

A Metal Structure found at the start of the track.

Some generic hut building that is located over towards the main grandstands.

Now you have seen some of the more interesting objects have a look out for them around my track.

Social Media Logo's

An Update to my website required me to create some logo's linking to all my other social media sites including this blog. I wanted to create something a little different by giving the logos a bit of depth, so I created some simple logo's in 3D and rendered them out with a separate depth of field pass.

I Created the Blogger logo, to link to my blog markshires.blogspot.com but you already knew that!

The second is a link to my facebook page, which you can find at www.facebook.com/mark.shires.3d whilst you are there please 'like' it, to stay up to date with any news and updates I have.

You can also follow me on Twitter at www.twitter.com/markshires3d which also keeps you up to date with all my news that I may have.

The final logo is a link to my YouTube channel which has all my videos and animation that I create, it also contains a fair few test renders that I create.

Finally don't forget to visit my main portoflio site www.markshires.com and see how they look on my links page.
